Everybody, from school aged kids to grown adults, would love to be able to sleep in when morning comes. Even if we think our sheets are holding us hostage, we have to fight the urge to snooze the alarm clock for the third time and wake up to participate in life. I know. It sucks!
Luckily, not every morning has to be a drag. Here are 5 simple steps you can try to start your morning off right and have an amazingly productive day!
1. Take some time to meditate or pray.
Before you even open your eyes to think about all the things you're thankful for. If you're a spiritual person, take some time to pray. Think positively about your goals for the day and how you will reach
them successfully. Try to block out any negative thoughts about yourself, your life, or other people. Take a few deep breaths, open your eyes, and get ready for an amazing day.
2. Listen to music while getting ready.
Maybe it's Beyonce, Ariana Grande, or Bethoven. Whatever your favorite genre is, turn it on and jam out in the morning! Make a morning playlist and turn it up to make getting ready for work or school that much more enjoyable!
3. Prepare from the night before.
Sometimes it's easier said that done when preparing from the night before, but it really does help your morning go a lot smoother. I like to set my clothes out or at least have my outfit ready in my mind so I just have to put it on in the morning, instead of scrambling to find something to wear. My lunch is usually packed and ready to go and if I'm making a smoothie in the morning, I usually have the ingredients separated in a tupperware container so that I can just throw it in the blender. These little things help make mornings go a little smoother that way I'm not rushing and I can even sleep in a couple minutes longer!
4. Drink lemon water before breakfast.
You may want to switch out your coffee for lemon water, because research has shown that lemon water in the morning has a number of health benefits for you (see our lemon water post here) which includes, boosting your metabolism, helping with weight loss, and a number of other things.
5. Try a morning workout every once in a while.
I know, I know! You're probably thinking, "I am NOT sacrificing my sleep, to go sweat!", but hear me out. As a certified 23 year member of the "I Don't Play With My Sleep" club, I totally get where you're coming from! It is not easy to wake up 1-2 hours earlier than normal to go workout, but I promise it is so worth it. You don't even have to do it every morning, just once or twice during the week. I can assure you that your day will go soooo much smoother! There's something about getting your heart pumping that can make your day that much better.
Love this post! I swear by lemon water - it's so nice to give your body a little detox first thing in the morning. :)
